Arabic calligraphy by Ayten Tiryaki | Prayer for Blessings in Naskh and Thuluth | Ottoman-Islamic wall art | Beautifully illuminated
This calligraphic piece features a deeply meaningful prayer (dua) seeking blessings (baraka) from God in one's daily life and work. Similar works are often found in places of business in Turkey and other parts of the Muslim world.
At the top of the composition is an important reminder from the hadith of the blessed Prophet, Peace be upon him, which praises a person who applies him/herself in earning a livelihood and providing their family: "The one who seeks their sustenance (al-kāsib) is a friend of Allah". This is paired with a further reminder below, "Sustenance (rizq) is from Allah", which reflects a central tenet of the Muslim faith.
The dua has been inscribed in impeccable nesih by the master Turkish calligrapher Ayten Tiryaki, along with her masterful display of sülüs for the two formulas above and below. The detailed floral illuminations (tezhip) have been stunningly executed by the acclaimed müzehhip Zeynep Merve Tiryaki.
The method of print (lithography) ensures that the finer details are faithfully represented, especially the dazzling gilding which features around the dua and in the floral border.

Bereket Duası- A Supplication inviting God's Blessings
"O God, Lord of Jibra'il, Mika'il, Israfil, Azra'il, Ibrahim, Isma'il, Ishaq, Ya'qub, and [the One] who sends down blessings, and who revealed the Torah, Psalms, and the Quran. There is no power or might except with God, the Greatest and the most-High. There is no god but God, the Sovereign, the evident Truth, [and] Muhammad is God's messenger, the one truthful to his promise and the trustworthy. O Lord, O Lord, O Ever-living One, O Sustainer, O Possessor of all Glory and Bounty, I ask you, O Lord of the Mighty Throne, to bestow on me a halal and pure sustenance with your Mercy, o most Merciful One. [Written by Ayten Tiryaki, may God forgive her, 1440]."
