About us
We are a team of academics and professionals with expertise in Ottoman history and Arts and Cultural Heritage.
We work with art galleries, printing houses, and individual artists to bring you prints and original pieces featuring calligraphy, miniatures, and photography.
Our current collection consists of fine calligraphic prints, many of which are limited edition.
Why سَبِيْل?
In a beautiful tradition of our master Muhammad ﷺ, he tells us to be in this world as if we are wayfarers on a path ('ābir sabīl). It reminds us that life is both transient and precious.
The best way to live life, then, is in service of God: fī sabīl'illāh.
At Sabil Art House, we take inspiration from our Ottoman predecessors, who in turn took inspiration from the Hadīth: 'Indeed, Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty.'
Countless Ottoman luminaries understood the place of beauty in nurturing the soul through the sabīl (path) of life, just as they understood the value of public fountains (singular: sabīl; plural: asbila) in quenching the thirst of wayfarers and passers-by.
Our own mission is to quench the thirst of believers around the world, not for water but for spiritual enrichment - for multisensorial delights which bring us closer to God and which beautify our path toward Him.
The works we share with you are in truth not 'art' (though we might categorise it as such), but rather an act of worship manifested in ink and paper.
The arts in Islam are sacred; the artist seeks God's closeness and intimacy through their work, and their work in turn reminds us of God and brings us closer to Him.
We hope to continue to bring to you a range of items that are as beautiful as they are meaningful.
